Ffion's story is Priceless. Ffion Price may have a twin sister with her on the Hail State Track and Field team, but there is no one in the world like this fearless, ocean crossing, horseback riding, P.h.D student in training when she hits the track.
Â
In her two short years in Starkville, the Wales native has played an integral part in the growth and success of the track and field team. She finished in the top-10 in 11-of-12 events during the 2016 Indoor season. Crossed first in four of her events during her first season at Mississippi State. She was also a member of the 2017 SEC Champion distance medley relay group. Not to mention, Price helped make the school record books as her team has run at the NCAA Cross Country championships both years she has been a part of the program, a feat not accomplished by the program at any point prior to her arrival.
Â
Â
Price has a lot to be proud of with regards to her time as a Bulldog, however she does not let the success and excitement get to her. She stays grounded through her relationship with her family, frequent Skype calls with her mother and brother back home in the United Kingdom, and finds encouragement through her twin sister and teammate, Rhian. Price said her family is the reason that her running career has grown to where it is.
Â
Â
"My mom was the one that pushed us to run for practice and everything," Price said with a smile. "She has no coaching background, but she used to work a lot with horses, and how to train them, so she believed training us couldn't be too different."
Â
Ffion and her sister ran almost every day back in the U.K. That devotion, and Mom's training, paid off. Both have taken the team to new heights and continue to support each other to reach their goals, even during events when they are direct competition. Â
Â
"There's never really any rivalry between us, we just want the best for each other," Price said.
Â
Though Ffion rings her cowbell with pride, she is still a Brit through-and-through. She enjoys a cup of tea before a race, and is on an endless hunt for quality Fish-and-Chips in the States. She misses her mother, brother and horses back home, but Price said that she would not trade her time at Mississippi State for anything. The distance runner said that coming to Starkville has been a great decision wrapped with many unforgettable memories.
Â
While Price's time with the track and field team may be coming to a close, her journey with Mississippi State continues. She plans welcome her Mother and Brother to Starkville during their first trip to the United States before she graduates in May 2017 with a masters degree in kinesiology. Following graduation, Price will remain at MSU for three more years as she pursues her P.h.D.Â
