PROVO, Utah – Not since the 2002 season-opener has Mississippi State played a football game this far West in the United States. The Bulldogs seek to get back on track in a rare Friday night tilt as they take on BYU at 9:21 p.m. CT/8:21 p.m. MT in LaVell Edwards Stadium. MSU and BYU are meeting for the third time with each owning a win in the series. The two teams last faced each other in Starkville on Dec. 1, 2001 in a contest that was moved due to the events of 9/11. State won its only game in Provo behind three defensive touchdowns on Sept. 14, 2000.

Senior wide receiver Fred Ross is just six catches shy of tying the MSU career record for receptions. He heads into Friday with 156 catches. Ross is 72 yards shy of becoming just the fifth player in Bulldog history with 2,000 receiving yards.
