MSU Places 47 Student-Athletes On SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State placed a total of 47 student-athletes on the 2011-12 Southeastern Conference First-Year Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced Thursday.

 

MSU’s 47 honorees tie for the third-most student-athletes on the list, in the sports in which State competes.  MState placed 11 women's track and field athletes, eight football players and seven baseball players on the list to top the school's number.  The Bulldogs also had five each from softball and men's track and field, three from soccer, two from volleyball, men's basketball and women's golf, and one each from men's and women's tennis on the league list.

 

MSU trailed only South Carolina (69) and Florida (49) on the list, matched Arkansas' 47, and finished ahead of Auburn (37), Alabama (34), Tennessee (33), Kentucky (32), Georgia (28), Ole Miss (24), Vanderbilt (23) and LSU (14) in the sports in which Mississippi State competes.
