PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Mississippi State Lady Bulldog Alexandra Perper notched a 1-1 record in the first major collegiate competition of the 2012-13 season Saturday, seeing action in the prequalifying draw of the ITA Riviera All-American Championships.

Perper, ranked 122nd nationally, commanded the first round of play, notching a solid 7-6(6), 6-2 victory against Patricia Fargas of DePaul. Unfortunately, Perper could not hold onto her first round momentum, dropping her second match to Callie Craig of Utah in a 6-1, 6-4 decision.

Because three consecutive wins were required to advance to the qualifying round, the second-round setback completed Perper's run in the tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action next weekend as they head to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the Roberta Alison Fall Classic. Results will be available through hailstate.com, and also through twitter via @mstateWT.
