ERIE, Colo. - One of the best freshman seasons ever played by a Lady Bulldog on the golf course came to an end Saturday, as Ally McDonald wrapped up her postseason play at the Colorado National Golf Course.

The sensational freshman placed fifth overall among individual qualifiers at the NCAA West Regional with a carded 1-over-par-73 as she just missed out on advancing into the championship tournament at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Nashville, Tenn.

"My final score didn't reflect how I played today. It could have been better, but this was a good learning experience as well as a great freshman year. I look forward to continuing my growth as a player next year and developing this program even further," McDonald said.

The Fulton, Miss., native dipped just below her 74.22 season average to score a 73 for the third and final day of action, an average that broke the all-time single-season freshman scoring record for Mississippi State.

McDonald's West Regional berth made her the first Lady Bulldog to participate in postseason action since Amanda Mathis played in the 2007 East Regional.
