STARKVILLE, Miss. - Coming off the two most successful years in program history the Mississippi State Men’s Golf team and 12th-year coach Clay Homan are looking for the momentum to continue.
During that time span, the Bulldogs have won six tournaments, the most in any two-year span, and made it to back-to-back NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2008-09.
“We are looking forward to beginning another fantastic schedule against some really competitive programs,” Homan said.
For the sixth-straight season, the Bulldogs will open the year in Hattiesburg at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate on Sept. 8-9, hosted by Southern Miss. Lear year, MSU finished second.
The next week on Sept. 15-16, Mississippi State returns to the Memphis Intercollegiate held at Colonial Country Club in Cordova, Tenn., for the first time since 2012.
To close out September, the Maroon and White will appear for the first time in the Graeme McDowell/Shoal Creek Invitational at Shoal Creek Country Club in Birmingham, Ala., on Sept. 29-30.
MSU will return to Birmingham on Oct. 6-7 to play in the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate for the sixth-straight year and ninth overall.
The Bulldogs will play for the first time in The Grove Intercollegiate held Oct. 26-28 at The Grove Golf Club in College Grove, Tenn.
To conclude the fall leg of the 2014-15 season, MSU will play in the Central Alabama CC Invitational on Nov. 10-11 at Willow Point Country Club in Alexander City, Ala.
“This fall we are fortunate to have some very good tournaments only a few hours from home,” said Homan. “I think that will prove to be beneficial with a young, inexperience group.”
The Mobile Bay Intercollegiate at Magnolia Golf Club in Mobile, Ala., on Feb. 23-24 will tee off the spring slate for the Bulldogs. It’s the team’s seventh appearance at this event but first since 2013.
MSU will return to The Louisiana Classics held at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette, La., on Mar 2-3 for the first time since the 1996-97 season.
SEC foes faceoff when MSU plays in the Tiger Invitational at Grand National Golf Club in Opelika, Ala., on March 8-10. The Bulldogs placed third last year.
In the final tournament of the year, MSU heads to Virginia for the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg.
The Bulldogs return home for the final tournament of the campaign looking to defend their back-to-back titles at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship, held April 6-7 at historic Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point.
“We expect to continue to compete to win as we have the last two seasons,” Homan said.
Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga., will play host to the SEC Championships on Apr. 17-19
Postseason play will begin May 14-16 at various regionals around the country and the NCAA Championship will held at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla., on May 29-June 3.
