Bulldogs Host First Home Tournament As Part Of 2012-13 Men's Golf Slate
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Some new venues, some familiar ones and the program's first home tournament highlight Mississippi State's 2012-13 men's golf schedule that was released Thursday.
The Bulldogs cap the regular season by hosting the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship April 8-9 at Old Waverly Golf Club in nearby West Point.
"We are excited about hosting a tournament for the first time at our home course," Clay Homan, State's 10th-year head coach, said. "We added a few new events at some exciting venues for the upcoming season. However, we return to several of ones we have played in the past."
The 2012-13 season includes 11 stops in six states before the SEC Championship at Sea Island Golf Couse on St. Simons Island, Ga.
In addition to the home event, MSU will compete in two more in-state events, including the season-opening Sam Hall Intercollegiate in Hattiesburg Sept. 10-12.
State plays events in Tennessee, Louisiana, Alabama, North Carolina and Florida before returning to the Magnolia State to wrap the regular season with the April 1-2 BancorpSouth Reunion Intercollegiate in Madison and the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship.
