MSU-Lipscomb Video Highlights
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State threw six freshman pitchers and set new season highs in both hits and run scored during Sunday afternoon's 16-6 win over Lipscomb in college baseball action at Dudy Noble Field.

MSU collected 19 hits and blew open a tight contest with a season-best eight-run fourth inning. The Bison actually held leads of 3-0 and 6-5 before the big outburst by the Maroon and White.

For the weekend, the Bulldogs (10-2) won all four games in the double round robin tournament play. As a team, MSU hit .326 with 30 runs scored and 45 base hits. The Bison (4-8) were winless in the event, as they also dropped a 6-5 decision earlier in the day to Connecticut.

Lipscomb bolted out to the 3-0 advantage thanks to three scores off MSU starting pitcher Will Cox.

The Bulldogs battled back for a 5-3 lead in the home half of the second inning. C.T. Bradford had a two-run double, while Adam Frazier and Wes Rea added RBI-singles.

For the Bison, starting pitcher Blake Fonfara (0-2) escaped that frame but left the contest after allowing three of the eight runs scored in the fourth inning.

Daryl Norris tied the contest on an RBI-triple. The Bulldogs took the lead for good on an RBI-double by Wes Rea. Hunter Renfroe then made it back-to-back RBI doubles. Bradford added a two-run single, before both Frazier and Norris each completed the frame with a pair of hits.

For MSU, Ross Mitchell followed Cox to the mound before being lifted in the fourth inning. Jonathan Holder (1-0) finished the fourth inning and worked the fifth and sixth innings for his first collegiate victory. Brandon Woodruff, Jacob Lindgren and Tanner Gaines each threw a scoreless inning apiece out of the bullpen.

A two-run home run by Bradford - his first of the year - capped the scoring in the eighth inning.

Bradford paced the Bulldogs with a career-high four hits and six RBIs. Frazier, Norris and Taylor Stark each added three hits. Rea and Mitch Slauter had multiple hits. Norris finished the tournament with eight hits in 16 at-bats.

M.L. Williams had two of Lipscomb's nine hits. The Bison were plagued by four errors, which led to eight unearned runs.

MSU hosts Penn State at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The season-opening 17-game homestand then concludes with a weekend series against Mercer.
