STARKVILLE, Miss. – Head football coach Dan Mullen again put his team through a three-hour workout, the second practice of the spring session. The Bulldogs worked out in helmets only and will put on full pads for the first time Saturday.

“Saw some improvement today, but we’ve still got a long way to go,” Mullen said. “Practice today was a little smoother (than Tuesday), but we’ll really start to see what we have on Saturday when we put the pads on.”

Sophomore running back Robert Elliott (knee) participated in the full practice after being limited on Tuesday, but senior wide receiver Brandon McRae (leg) was limited after the first few periods. Also being withheld from action were kicker Eric Richards (hip), offensive lineman Mark Melichar (illness) and wide receiver Andrew Ellard (knee).

Mississippi State will practice again at 10 a.m. Saturday on the Shira Athletic Complex Practice Fields. More than 150 fans were in attendance at Thursday’s practice, and Saturday’s full-pad workout will be open to the public as well.
