STARKVILLE, Miss.Aaron Gordon was pleased with his team’s effort during last weekend’s opener, and he hopes it continues Thursday as Mississippi State hits the road for the first time this season with a trek to Furman.

Opening kick for the contest is set for 6 p.m. CST at Stone Soccer Stadium in Greenville, S.C.

MSU looks to bounce back from a pair of tough season-opening setbacks, 5-1 against Iowa State Friday and 1-0 against Cincinnati Sunday.

The Bulldogs tied their two foes with 23 shots each and will look to break through after finding several chances land on the unlucky side.

Freshman Mallory Eubanks converted her first collegiate goal Friday thanks to assists from senior Shannen Jainudeen and fellow rookie Kelsey Pearce.

Freshman Rhylee DeCrane showed tremendous potential in goal, making seven saves in the two games.

The young Bulldogs meet a Furman side that split a pair of opening-weekend contests. The Paladins knocked off Georgia State 1-0 on a Stephanie DeVita penalty kick in the 99th minute before falling 2-1 to Auburn on Sunday.

Hannah Stanifer joined DeVita in the scoring column for the Paladins. Rose Hull stopped eight shots while surrendering two goals in the games.

Mississippi State returns home Sunday for an in-state showdown against Southern Miss. Kickoff for the SEC Network + contest is set for 6 p.m., and admission to the match is free.
