STARKVILLE, Miss. - With seven meets scheduled for the 2014 season, the Mississippi State Cross Country teams will travel to six locations, starting on Aug. 30 at the Memphis Twilight.

The Bulldogs return 17 runners and welcome seven newcomers.

“We are excited to open in two weeks and see where we’re at,” MSU coach Houston Franks said. “We have had several athletes go and compete during the summer and for national championships for track, so they are coming off a bit of a transition time. We are ready to get going. ”

Following the first meet, the teams head to Nashville to compete in the Vanderbilt Classic on Sep. 21 before traveling to Bethlehem, Pa., to partake in the Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 4.

Entering his sixth year as head coach, Franks’ teams wrap up the 2014 regular season in Tuscaloosa on Oct. 17 in the Crimson Classic before taking part in the SEC Championships, also in Tuscaloosa, on Oct. 31.

The Bulldogs will then head to Tallahassee, Fla., on Nov. 14 for the NCAA South Regional. The NCAA National Championship will be held Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind.
