STARKVILLE, Miss. – Ally McDonald’s impressive run at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championships ended Thursday with an 8 & 7 setback to Korea’s Eunjeong Seong.

The rising senior from Fulton, Miss., advanced to Thursday’s round at Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y., after defeating LSU’s Carly Ray Goldstein 2 & 1 on Wednesday.

In stroke play, she punched her ticket to the match play round after finishing tied for 33 with a two-day total of 145. Only the Top 64 advanced.

As for Thursday, Seong jumped out quick, winning the first four holes and recording three birdies. In the 11 holes that were played, she had four birdies and no bogies. She now faces Liv Cheng of New Zealand.
