STARKVILLE, Miss. – Rising sophomore Olivia Golden is expanding her softball skill set this summer by taking part in the Beach League in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The league began on Saturday and continues through early August.
As part of the summer experience, Golden every four days will play at 7 p.m. ET for three-straight evenings before having one day off of game action.
A redshirt freshman in 2014, Golden appeared in 31 games for Mississippi State and scored 11 runs. The Hartselle, Ala., native registered nine at-bats and drove in the first runs of her career. Golden finished with two hits, one double, two RBI, a pair of walks and one stolen base.
Golden started the game-winning rally against Memphis on March 11 by hitting a single to right field with one out in the top of the seventh and scoring the contest-deciding run later in the inning. She used a double in the fourth inning at Mississippi Valley State to drive in her first career runs, plating two. Golden scored the game-tying run in the sixth inning against No. 16 Kentucky in the opening round of the SEC Tournament after entering as a pinch runner.
