UPDATE: 26 Diamond Dawgs In Professional Baseball

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Twenty-six former Mississippi State baseball players are currently in professional baseball, including three currently in Big Leagues. Below are their updated stats following games which ended Tuesday, June 23, 2014. Please tweet any corrections to @HailStateBB.

BULLY BITES

  • Hunter Renfroe went yard in just his second game in Double A.
  • 2014 All-SEC second baseman Brett Pirtle made his pro debut June 20 with the Connecticut Tigers of the New York-Penn League, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a walk and the game-winning run.
  • Nick Vickerson has a history of being clutch, continuing his reputation by hitting a key homer for Myrtle Beach this past week. Check out the video here.
  • Since May 27, shortstop Adam Frazier has raised his average 20 points from .233 to .253. In his last 10 games, the 2013 All-American is hitting .368 (14-for-38) with seven runs, four doubles, three RBIs and two walks.
  • In his last 10 games with the Memphis Redbirds in Triple A, 2007 Johnny Bench Award Winner Ed Easley is 13-for-36 (.361) with six runs, three RBIs, three doubles and three walks.
  • In his last 10 games with the Syracuse Chiefs in Triple A, Tyler Moore is hitting at a .357 clip with seven RBIs, five runs, five walks, three doubles and a home run.
  • Right-hander Brandon Woodruff made his pro debut June 23 with the Helana Brewers of the Rookie Pioneer League, striking out three in two innings of relief.
  • Right-hander Jonathan Holder made his pro debut June 23 with the GCL Yankees 2 of the Rookie Gulf Coast League, getting the win with three strikeouts in two innings of relief.
  • Pitchers Devin Jones (AA), Evan Mitchell (A) and Nick Routt (A) are all on the seven-day DL.
