STARKVILLE, Miss. – Catch some Hail State Hoops and get that last-minute Christmas shopping done in Las Vegas as the Mississippi State women’s basketball team participates in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic, scheduled for Dec. 20-21.
The event, hosted by Sport Tours International, will be played at the South Point Hotel arena located just a few miles from the famous Las Vegas Strip.
The Bulldogs open play Dec. 20 against Illinois-Chicago in a 9:30 p.m. CST tip. Vic Schaefer’s squad closes play the following day as it faces Miami (Ohio) at 4 p.m. CST.
Old Dominion rounds out the field.
Mississippi State returns five starters from last season’s squad that finished 22-14, the fourth-most wins in program history, and advanced to the WNIT quarterfinals.
The Bulldogs won three postseason games for the first time while setting new top marks for points (2,551), rebounds (1,410) and made free throws (705).
In addition to the talented group of returnees, the Bulldogs welcome a stellar five-player signing class that ranked in the Top 20 in the nation.
Illinois-Chicago, like Mississippi State, made a stellar turn-around last season, going 26-9 and winning the Women’s Basketball Invitational championship.
The Redhawks bring back six players from last year’s team that went 8-22 overall, 4-14 in Mid-American Conference play.Ticket prices for the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic will be announced at a later date.
