STARKVILLE, Miss. – For the second time in her career, sophomore Georgiana Patrasc has been named to the All-SEC team, released Wednesday by the league office. Patrasc received first team honors, after being named to the second team last year as a freshman.
A native of Bacau, Romania, Patrasc ended her sophomore campaign with a career best 23-9 overall mark in singles and won 10 of 11 matches at one point this spring. She finished 13-5 in singles dual matches this spring, recording an 8-5 mark at the No. 1 position and a 5-0 record at No. 2. Patrasc also earned 13 wins in doubles, including a six-match win streak with Naomi Tran and finished 10-7 in dual match doubles play.
Patrasc defeated four ranked foes, two in the top 75 and became a mainstay in the ITA singles’ rankings, staying within the top 100 for the entire season. She attained her career-best ranking on April 15, when she climbed to the No. 56 spot. Patrasc remains in the same position in the latest ITA rankings, released on Tuesday.
She currently sits at 41-23 for her career in singles, and has added to her stellar sophomore season by breaking into several top 10 school record categories, including moving into 5th all-time in singles winning percentage at .631. She is also in a four-way tie for 10th in single-season wins (23) and sits at 8th in single-season singles win percentage (.742).
