MSU Seeks Back-To-Back Top-Five Finishes At SEC Championships
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – After capturing back-to-back tournament titles to close out the regular season, the Mississippi State men’s golf team seeks another Top-5 finish at the Sea Island Golf Course as the Bulldogs compete in the 2014 Southeastern Conference Championship.
The three-day, three round event will play host to 14 SEC squads on April 25-27, with seven schools ranking in the Top 25 of Golfstat.com’s latest poll.
Last season, the Bulldogs turned in a 26-over-par 866 to finish fifth at Sea Island.
“This is the last SEC Championship for a group of four seniors that have given us so much over their careers,” MSU coach Clay Homan said. “I know they are poised to do well this week.”
After finishing tied for fifth a year ago, Ramey will seek another stellar performance in Sea Island. The Fulton, Miss., native has two Top-10 cards at the SEC Championships in his career.
Boasson also looks to earn another Top-10 finish after tying for 10th last season at the SEC Championship. The senior turned in his best performance of the season last week, after finishing tied for fourth at the Reunion Intercollegiate.
Homan’s squad will tee off at 9 a.m. Friday alongside Tennessee and Missouri.
