STARKVILLE, Miss. - Following a weekend of broken records, Mississippi State men’s and women’s track and field teams currently hold the No. 21 and No. 25 spots, respectively, in the latest USTFCCCA Team Rankings released on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs have shown dominance throughout the outdoor season, totaling four school records and collecting wins on national stages.

“We are giving consistent performances,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “Our athletes have been working hard, and this weekend’s meet at Penn Relays will be a great opportunity to show off their dedication.”

MSU boasts a handful of the country’s best athletes. Brandon McBride is the NCAA leader in the men’s 800-meter run after a lifetime-best 1:45.35 at Mt. SAC Relays, and junior Javon Davis ranks No. 27 in the men’s 400-meter hurdles (51.27).

Meanwhile, Dudley’s women claim four top-20 individual rankings. Senior Rochelle Farquharson is No. 8 in the nation in the long jump (21-03.25), while sophomore Cornelia Griesche’s MSU record of 10:04.05 in the 3000-meter steeplechase ranks her at No. 14. Freshman Rhianwedd Price holds the No. 18 spot in the 1500-meter run (4:16.11), and senior Keisha Wallace rounds out the group at No. 19 in the 100-meter hurdles (13.14).

The Southeastern Conference currently has nine teams in the men’s USTFCCCA Top 25, as Florida, Texas A&M and Arkansas hold the No. 2, 3 and 4 spots, respectively. On the women’s side, eight SEC teams can be found in this week’s rankings.

MSU is back on the road this weekend as the squads split to compete at the historic Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., and the Southern Miss Invite in Hattiesburg, Miss.
