STARKVILLE, Miss. – Following a dominant performance in Tuscaloosa, the Mississippi State track and field team will divide its talents this weekend to compete at the 56th Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., and in Baton Rouge at the LSU Alumni Gold Invite.
“This weekend is a great opportunity to allow our athletes to get exposure across the country,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “We’ve had a strong week of practice, and I’m excited to see those efforts translate in competition.”
A select group of 10 Bulldog distance runners will head out west for the Mt. SAC Relays, slated for April 17-19. The world famous event will feature some of the country’s top athletes at all levels of the sport, from high school to elite.
Collegiate action at the historic Hilmer Lodge Stadium at Mt. San Antonio College is scheduled to begin on Thursday at 6 p.m. PDT and conclude at 11:15 p.m. PDT. Competition will resume on Friday at 10 a.m. PDT until 11:30 p.m. PDT.
MSU is also looking to leave its mark in Baton Rouge on April 19 after returning to the bayou for the second time this month.
The meet will feature 19 teams, including hosts No. 10 LSU men and No. 7 Lady Tigers. Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas A&M will comprise the other Southeastern Conference teams in attendance.
The Aggies enter the meet boasting the No. 1 women’s team in the nation and the No. 4 men’s squad. Ole Miss holds the No. 11 spot on the men’s side, while Tennessee’s men come in at No. 17.
Action at Bernie Moore Track Stadium is expected to begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT with field events, followed by running events as early as 10:15 a.m. CT. Competition is scheduled to conclude at 4:25 pm. CT.
