AUSTIN, Texas – While the Bulldogs only saw action in two events on Saturday, Mississippi State track and field did not go unnoticed on the final day of the 87th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
The Maroon and White men’s 4x400-meter relay team garnered a second-place finish in the University section. The quartet of Alistair Moona, Scottie Hearn, Dustin James II and Brandon McBride turned in a time of 3:06.77 to close out the meet for MSU. McBride flew by competitors on the final leg of the event to secure the team’s No. 2 spot.
Earlier in the day, senior Juan Sanchez clocked a 4:09.05 to finish fifth in the men’s Jerry Thompson Invitational mile run.
“Our athletes proved themselves today," MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “They performed at the top of their game, and at the end of the day, they were rewarded for it. If we can keep this momentum going, then I am anxious to see where the rest of the season goes."
Attendance totaled nearly 40,000 throughout the weekend at Mike A. Myers Stadium as the University of Texas hosted one of the nation’s most prestigious track and field events.
