STARKVILLE, Miss. – Following a record-setting indoor season, the Mississippi State track and field team will begin its outdoor campaign on Thursday as the Alabama Relays get underway at Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

“We’re definitely excited to get the outdoor season rolling,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “We have a big group competing this weekend, and it will be great to allow as many athletes as possible to get this experience under their belts before the season picks up quickly.”

The Tide-hosted event will feature a total of five Southeastern Conference teams, including Georgia, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

More than 50 Bulldogs will compete in the three-day competition, with MSU seeing action in 31 different events, including eight relays.

Action is slated to begin on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the men’s decathlon. Three Bulldogs will be the only members of the squad to compete on day one as Carl Pittman, JaQuarius Wilson and Zach Taylor complete the first five of ten decathlon events. The Alabama Relays will continue on Friday beginning at 10 a.m., followed by two full days of races.

The meet will conclude on Saturday at 5:25 p.m. with the men’s 4x400-meter relay.

Fans traveling east to watch the Maroon and White can visit for directions, parking maps and further information.

Live results and updates will be provided through, as well as the MSU track and field Twitter account (@HailStateTF).
