STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State (21-8) begins to wind down the non-conference portion of its schedule Tuesday with a 6 p.m. CT contest at Memphis (13-12). It will be the second meeting of the season between the two and GoTigersGo.com will offer a live video stream.

The Bulldogs have gone 4-0 versus the Tigers, with all three meetings taking place since the beginning of the 2012 season. This will be the first contest in Memphis as the teams previously met in Starkville; Mobile, Ala.; and Gulfport, Miss. MSU is 10-6 versus current members of the American Athletic Conference.

The two teams played March 1 at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Softball Classic with the Bulldogs downing the Tigers 3-2. Memphis took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning on a Calli Irvin RBI double and Haleigh Ross run-scoring single. MSU answered with a run in the top of the fifth as sophomore Loryn Nichols singled to left field, stole second, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a double from junior Julia Echols. In the top of the sixth, senior Logan Foulks evened the score at 2-2, leading off the inning with a home run. The Bulldogs scored the game-winning run in the top of the seventh on a two-out double to left from freshman Mackenzie Toler that plated redshirt freshman Olivia Golden who had singled to right with one out. Echols finished with a career-high three hits while Toler and Nichols each had two hits.

Last week, senior Jessica Offutt returned to the starting lineup Wednesday at Georgia State and went six-for-eight in the last four contests. She scored one of MSU’s two runs in Saturday’s first game and went two-for-two with a walk in the second contest. Helping the Mississippi State offense last weekend at No. 15/17 Georgia was Toler, who went three-for-eight (.375 batting average) during series.

After the midweek clash, the Bulldogs head to Auburn for a three-game series. Friday’s contest at Auburn starts at 6 p.m. CT while the Saturday and Sunday games start at 1 p.m.
