KANEOHE, Hawaii – After a busy day of two rounds in Hawaii, the Mississippi State women’s golf team has a commanding lead in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on Marines Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe, Hawaii, with four players in the top-10.

The Bulldogs followed up an even par 288 first round with a 296 second round to sit atop the leaderboard with a 36-hole score of 8-over-par 584 at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course, the lowest 36-hole score of the spring.

"Proud of the girls today. It’s a bit of an endurance test with 36 holes in one day,” fourth-year head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. "Our first round was very solid at even par but our second round we made a few mental errors. We are ready to defend our top spot tomorrow.”

Ally McDonald and Jessica Peng each ended their Tuesday rounds in a tie for third at 1-over-par 145. Peng, who ended the opening round with a share of first at 2-under-par 70 with five birdies, added consecutive birdies on holes 14 and 15 to post seven birdies in her opening 36 holes.

Notching the best second round for the Bulldogs was junior Rica Tse, who fired back-to-back 1-over-par 73 rounds to place in seventh. Tse is looking for her second top-10 finish of the spring season after claiming a third place finish in the Lady Bulldog Individual Championship.

Freshman Ji Eun Baik posted the best two rounds of her spring campaign with two 2-over-par 74 rounds to hold a share of eighth at 4-over-par 148. The 148 36-hole score bests her previous spring two-round score by 15 strokes and puts her in position for her second top-10 finish of her career.

Rounding out the MSU lineup is Blaise Carabello who carved off three strokes from her second to first rounds to turn in a 167 scorecard through two rounds.

Camino Sardinero of UTEP claims the top individual spot at 3-under-par 141 after two rounds.

Brown-Lemm’s squad will tee off the final shotgun round Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. CST, paired with No. 19 NC State, SMU and TCU.
