No. 8 Diamond Dawgs Face USA In 2013 NCAA Regional Rematch

STARKVILLE, Miss. – No. 8 Mississippi State will put its season-long six-game winning streak on the line Wednesday against a 5-5 South Alabama. First pitch in this rematch from the 2013 NCAA Starkville Regional is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Dudy Noble Field. The forecast for Wednesday’s game is 51 Degrees at First Pitch, mostly cloudy and calm winds.

Tickets are still available and can be purchased at HailState.com/tickets. Wednesday is “Residential Life” night at the ballpark, with $2 hot dogs and popcorn being sold at concessions. Fan can get their picture with the Egg Bowl Trophy during the game as well in the concourse area.

Bulldogs Near The Top Nationally In Several Categories

The NCAA released its first national statistical rankings Monday, and the Bulldogs are near the top in several categories. On offense, MSU is second in the country in walks (85) and stolen bases (30), 10th in on-base percentage (.424), 11th in hits (131) and 15th in runs scored (87). On the mound, State is fourth with 9.7 strikeouts per nine innings, fifth with 15 double plays and 14th with a 2.00 ERA. In the field, the Maroon and White rank 15th with a .982 fielding percentage.

SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week

Preseason All-American left-handed pitcher Ross Mitchell was named Southeastern Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday. The recognition is the first career weekly pitching honor for Mitchell and the first by a Bulldog since Kendall Graveman picked up the nod on April 8, 2013.
