STARKVILLE, Miss. - On Saturday, March 8, the Mississippi State Student-Athlete M-Club will collect canned food and non-perishable food items in the Mize Pavilion concourse just inside Humphrey Coliseum before the Bulldog basketball team plays South Carolina. Gates will open at 1:30 and tip-off slated for 3 p.m.

Donations will go towards the Million Meals Challenge which is a cooperative program between Mississippi State, Ole Miss, the University of Memphis, and The Kroger Company. All items will go to the Mississippi Food Network whose mission is to relieve poverty-related hunger in the area by distributing donated and purchased food and grocery products through a network of member churches and nonprofit organizations.

The M-Club is a community outreach program for current student-athletes and, in addition to other on-campus departments, donated over 347,608 meals in 2012 through a combination of pounds in food, money, and volunteer hours. Mississippi State is on pace to shatter that mark in 2013-2014 athletic year.

Once again, canned food & non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Kroger table on the Humphrey Coliseum concourse just inside the Mize Pavilion this Saturday, March 8, between 1:30-3 p.m.
