MSU Concludes Road Swing At Georgia

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Bulldogs will battle on the hardwood as Mississippi State makes its final road trip of the regular season Wednesday in a clash at Georgia.

Tip-off at Stegeman Coliseum is set for 6 p.m. CT on CSS.

MSU enters the contest with a 13-16 record and a 3-13 mark in SEC play after falling 85-66 at Missouri on Saturday. Fred Thomas paced the Maroon and White with 18 points.

Craig Sword leads Rick Ray’s squad with a 13.3 scoring clip, while Gavin Ware averages 10.3 points and 7.2 rebounds.

Mississippi State has been one of the top teams in the conference in steals this season, ranking third in the league and 30th nationally with 7.8 steals per game.

Georgia (16-12, 10-6) dropped an 87-75 decision at Arkansas over the weekend. Kenny Gaines netted a game-high 25 points in the loss. Charles Man leads UGA with 13.3 points an outing, while Gaines averages 13.1 points.

The teams met earlier this season in Starkville, where Georgia claimed a 75-55 win on Feb. 12. MSU won in its last visit to Athens a year ago, earning a 72-61 win for Rick Ray’s first SEC road win. The schools are tied 53-53 in the all-time series.

Following Wednesday’s game, MSU will prepare for Senior Day on Saturday as it hosts South Carolina in the regular season finale. The 3 p.m. tilt at Humphrey Coliseum will be televised by SEC TV.
