STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State returns to the soccer pitch Saturday afternoon as it opens the spring slate with a trip to Birmingham to meet Samford. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

Saturday’s contest is the first of an exhibition slate that will culminate Thursday, April 10, when the Dawgs host Alabama at 7 p.m. to kickoff 2014 Super Bulldog Weekend festivities.

Second-year coach Aaron Gordon’s squad will also host Georgia State at the MSU Soccer Field April 6. Admission to all Bulldog home soccer matches is free.

In addition to 11 returnees, the spring roster includes four members of a heralded 2014 signing class.

Laurel native Ashliegh Badley, Florida forward Morgan Ferrara, junior college all-American Meme Huff of Meridian and Texas forward Hannah Smith joined the team at the start of the spring semester.

In addition to signing a talented group of newcomers, the offseason also included All-SEC standout Elisabeth Sullivan being drafted by the Portland Thorns of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
