Ramey Cards Fourth Top 15 Of The Season At Bayou City Collegiate Championship
Mississippi State finished the weekend at 11-over-par 875, tying Louisiana Tech for 11th overall. No. 15 Houston claimed the tournament title over No. 21 Texas, shooting 31-under-par for the weekend.
"It was a very disappointing way to end the tournament,” Bulldog head coach Clay Homan said. “We didn’t handle a little adversity thrown our way. In this game you have to be strong minded and able to focus on what you are out there to do. Right now, we only have two guys who are at a high level both physically and mentally.”
Senior Joe Sakulpolphaisan (1-under 215) climbed 10 spots to 21st on Sunday to claim his fourth Top 25 of the season. The Thailand native sank five birdies in the final round on his way to a 2-under-par 70 score.
On the heels of a career-best 68, freshman Jackson Dick carded a 6-over-par 78 on Sunday. Dick finished 55th overall in his second collegiate start.
Rounding out the Maroon and White scorecard from the Houston Golf Club was senior Axel Boasson (t75th) and freshman Dalton Conn (t82nd). Boasson shot a 12-over 228 for the BCCC, while Conn turned in a 19-over 235.
The Bulldogs will travel to Opelika, Ala., for the Tiger Invitational on March 10-11. MSU won both the team and individual title at last season’s Tiger Invitational.
