STARKVILLE, Miss. – Fresh off extending the program’s consecutive top-10 finish streak to 16, the Mississippi State women’s golf team will face its most best competition of the season in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship in New Orleans, ranked third-toughest spring tournament by GolfDigest.com.

The three-day, three-round event begins Sunday at the par-72, 6,140-yard English Turn Golf & Country Club.

With four top-10 and nine top-25 schools, the championship presents a great challenge for the Bulldogs. No. 1 Southern California, No. 2 UCLA, No. 4 Washington and No. 9 Alabama head the star-studded tournament field. Other teams participating include No. 24 Auburn, Baylor, No. 11 Clemson, Denver, No. 18 Florida, Georgia, No. 23 LSU, Ole Miss, No. 12 Oklahoma State, Texas, host Tulane and University of Texas-San Antonio.

Ally McDonald will lead the Bulldogs in the event after claiming a tie for third in the Florida State Match-Up. The All-American fired eight birdies in her final round to claim her fourth top-10 finish of the year.

Coming off a top-10 finish in the Tallahassee, Fla., event, Peng will be looking to add to her three top-10 scorecards this season. The Shenzhen, China, native tallied 8 birdies to finish at 5-over-par 221.

Junior Rica Tse will partake in her third event already this spring after a top-5 finish in the Lady Bulldog Individual Championship and narrowly missing the top-25 in Tallahassee. Blaise Carabello will be included in the lineup for the first time since the Mercedes Benz Women’s Collegiate Championship back in February. Rounding out the MSU lineup will be veteran Mary Langdon Gallagher.

The Bulldogs tee off the opening round Sunday at 10:30 a.m. CST with Ginger Brown-Lemm’s squad paired with No. 24 Auburn and Denver on hole 10.

Live stats and post-round results will be available through Hailstate.com.
