STARKVILLE, Miss. – Two teams look to bounce back from losses as Mississippi State travels to Baton Rouge on Wednesday for a showdown with LSU.
Tip-off at Pete Maravich Assembly Center is set for 7 p.m. on SEC TV.
The Bulldogs enter the matchup with a 13-12 overall record and a 3-9 mark in SEC play after falling 92-82 at Auburn on Saturday. Four players scored in double figures for Rick Ray’s squad, as Trivante Bloodman paced MSU with a career-high 18 points and nine assists.
LSU (15-9, 6-6) dropped an 81-70 decision at Arkansas on Sunday. Johnny O’Bryant led the Tigers with 20 points and 16 boards.
O’Bryant, a Mississippi native, paces LSU with a 15.8 scoring clip to go along with 7.7 rebounds per outing, while Jordan Mickey averages 13.5 points and 7.6 rebounds.
Steals have proven important for both teams this season, as the Tigers lead the SEC with 8.5 steals a game while MSU averages 8.1 swipes.
LSU holds a 107-97 lead in the all-time series against the Bulldogs. Mississippi State is looking for its first win in Baton Rouge since the 2011 season.
Following Wednesday’s matchup, MSU will return home for a home showdown against Arkansas next weekend. The 3 p.m. tilt at Humphrey Coliseum will be televised by SEC TV.
