STARKVILLE, Miss. – Back on the road after its recent return from New York City, Mississippi State track and field travels to Fayetteville to compete in the Tyson Invitational on Feb. 14-15 at the University of Arkansas.
The Razorback-hosted event will include some of the top teams in the country as the No. 1 Arkansas men welcome nine other ranked programs to the Randal Tyson Track Center. No. 5 Wisconsin, No. 6 Florida State and No. 9 Nebraska comprise the other Top 10 teams in attendance.
The MSU men, currently 17th in the nation, will also see action from No. 11 Alabama, No. 13 Texas, No. 18 LSU, No. 23 Illinois and No. 24 Southern California. Last weekend at the New Balance Armory Collegiate Invitational, the Bulldogs narrowly missed a first-place overall finish after falling to then No. 4 Wisconsin by just three points.
On the women’s side, MSU coach Steve Dudley’s squad also finds itself at No. 17. The Lady Bulldogs will join No. 6 Arkansas, along with top-ranked Texas, No. 10 LSU and No. 25 Baylor.
“We’re coming off some really outstanding performances in New York,” Dudley said. “I believe that momentum will carry over into this weekend’s races, and I’m looking forward to seeing how we do. It’ll be great for our athletes to go up against more ranked teams and continue to push themselves to keep improving.”
Action on Friday is slated to begin at 11 a.m. with the women’s pole vault, while the running events will get underway at noon, beginning with the women’s one mile. After concluding tomorrow at 8:10 p.m., competition will continue Saturday at noon with the shot put.
