HOUSTON, Texas – After sweeping UAB 7-0 this past Saturday to improve to 3-1 on the season, the Mississippi State women’s tennis team will hit the road this weekend for the second time this season.
The Bulldogs will travel to Houston, Texas, to face Stephen F. Austin in a neutral site match on Friday at 2 p.m., and will play host Houston on Sunday at 10 a.m.
Both opponents are familiar to the Bulldogs and head coach Daryl Greenan. Last season, Houston came to Starkville and left with a 4-3 loss. In 2011, the Bulldogs also hosted Stephen F. Austin, but fell 4-3 to the visiting Ladyjacks.
“We expect a challenge,” said Greenan. “Both teams are strong. We lost to Stephen F. Austin in a close battle two years ago and then defeated Houston last season. If we come out of the weekend with two wins, then we’ll be in good shape and one step closer to our goal.”
