STARKVILLE, Miss. – After being on the road for two-consecutive games, Mississippi State returns to the friendly confines of Humphrey Coliseum Saturday to face No. 18 Kentucky.
Tip is set for 12:47 p.m on SEC TV, with Joe Davis and Joe Dean Jr. providing courtside commentary. Saturday’s contest will be a “White Out” game, as all fans are encouraged to wear white.
The Bulldogs (13-9, 3-6) look to get back in the win column after suffering a 72-52 setback at Texas A&M on Wednesday. Craig Sword led MSU with 10 points and four assists, while Fred Thomas also netted 10 points.
The Wildcats (17-5, 7-2) boast yet another talented freshman class this season and return several key players from last year’s team. UK claimed an 80-64 home win against Ole Miss on Tuesday.
Freshman Julius Randle averages just shy of a double-double with 16.0 points and 9.9 rebounds per outing. James Young (14.7 points), Aaron Harrison (14.2), and Andrew Harrison (11.0) also average double-figure points for Big Blue.
The teams met in Lexington earlier this season, as Kentucky claimed an 85-63 victory at Rupp Arena on Jan. 8. MSU raced out to a 12-2 lead and held a 40-37 advantage at halftime, but UK used a second half surge to pull away.
The Bulldogs have played much better on their home court this season, holding an 11-2 mark inside The Hump. The Wildcats have faced a few struggles of their own on the road, as they are 3-5 in games not played in Lexington.
Following Saturday’s pivotal clash, Mississippi State will host Georgia on Wednesday. FSN will televise the 8 p.m. tilt.
