STARKVILLE, Miss. – Legendary sportswriter and Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum executive director Rick Cleveland will be the guest speaker for Mississippi State’s Feb. 11 Hail State Hoops Luncheon.
The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. in Mize Pavilion. In addition to a full lunch, the $12 admission includes the program that features Cleveland and hoops talk with Bulldog head coach Vic Schaefer, coaches and players.

Cleveland became the executive director of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in Jackson following a 40-plus year career as a sports journalist that saw him win numerous state, regional and national awards. In 2011, he became the first sportswriter to win the prestigious Richard Wright Lifetime Achievement Award for Literary Excellence, an honor that includes authors such as Eudora Welty, Richard Ford and Willie Morris.
Tuesday’s Hail State Hoops luncheon will recap previous games and look ahead to the final stretch of the regular season.Fans can also RSVP for the season’s final luncheon, which will be held Feb. 25.
