STARKVILLE, Miss. - After splitting their weekend slate against two ranked opponents, the Mississippi State women’s tennis team entered the ITA national team rankings for the first time this season at No. 75.

The Bulldogs fell in a close battle with No. 7 Texas A&M, before defeating San Jose State on Sunday, who was ranked at No. 68 at the time.

“It’s nice to be back on the list,” said head coach Daryl Greenan. “We started off the season outside the rankings, so this is a good start for us. Our goal is to work our way up and finish much higher.”

MSU was last ranked following the 2013 SEC Championships, where they earned a No. 74 spot after defeating Missouri in the first round, which was ranked No. 60 at the time.

The Bulldogs already have one player ranked in Georgiana Patrasc, who currently sits at No. 84 in the singles’ rankings.

Mississippi State will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 8, when they host a doubleheader with UAB and UT-Martin at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. The first match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
