NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After sweeping the competition on day one of the Vanderbilt Indoor Invitational, Mississippi State track and field carried its momentum into Saturday’s competition with an outstanding 23 Top 10 finishes.

The women’s success was highlighted by a win in the 400-meter relay. The quartet of Ocian Archer, Erica Bougard, Shayla Luckett and Ste’yce McNiel ran a 3:44.76 to garner the best time of the day.

“I’m really proud of my team on winning the 4x400,” Archer said. “I expect us to be running a lot faster and get our time down to make it to Nationals. We were strong, determined and handled business this weekend.”

After qualifying for NCAA Indoors in the long jump on Friday, All-American Bougard clocked an 8.41 in the 60-meter hurdles prelims to improve the Vanderbilt indoor facility record (previously 8.55) and advance to the event finals. There, the Byhalia, Miss., native recorded an 8.41 again to finish second.

In Section B of the 60-meter hurdles, fellow Lady Bulldogs McNeil (8.46) and Keisha Wallace (8.48) finished second and third, respectively.
