Starkville, Miss. – Following a thrilling 23-17 win against rival San Francisco in the NFC Championship Game at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, the Seattle Seahawks trio of former Mississippi State linebacker K.J. Wright (2007-10), receiver Arceto Clark (2008-12) and defensive lineman Dewayne Cherrington (2011-12) have advanced to Super Bowl XLVIII.
The game, which will mark the seventh-consecutive season a former Bulldog has advanced to play for the Vince Lombardi Trophy, takes place Sunday, Feb. 2, at 5:30 p.m. CT inside MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Wright, who started at linebacker for the NFC Champions, helped hold the 49ers to their first playoff game of 20 points or less under quarterback Colin Kaepernick. The Olive Branch, Miss., native recorded a tackle in his first game back since breaking a bone in his foot Dec. 8 at San Francisco.
Also playing in the game representing MSU was 49ers’ running back Anthony Dixon (2006-09), who leaped over a goal-line pile for a second-quarter touchdown.
