STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State basketball coach Rick Ray announced on Monday that redshirt freshman Dre Applewhite has decided to transfer.

The 6-foot-5, 217-pound guard from Memphis appeared in all 12 games for the Bulldogs and drew six starts, averaging 5.5 points and 3.9 rebounds.

“Transfers have unfortunately become common in college basketball.  We wish Dre well,” Ray said.

MSU (9-3) returns to action at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Humphrey Coliseum against Maryland Eastern Shore.
