STARKVILLE, Miss. - On Thursday November 28th, before the Battle for the Golden Egg on the MSU campus, the MSU Student-Athlete M-Club will collect canned food and non-perishable food items at the C Spire Wireless Fan Zone starting at 3 p.m. and will also have collection areas inside the southwest and southeast gates of Davis Wade Stadium until kick off of the 86th Egg Bowl.
Donations will go towards the Million Meals Challenge which is a cooperative program between Mississippi State, Ole Miss, the University of Memphis, and The Kroger Company. All items will go to the Mississippi Food Network whose mission is to relieve poverty-related hunger in the area by distributing donated and purchased food and grocery products through a network of member churches and nonprofit organizations.
The M-Club is a community outreach program for current student-athletes and, in addition to other on-campus departments, donated over 347,608 meals in 2012 through a combination of pounds in food, money, and volunteer hours. Mississippi State is on pace to shatter that mark in 2013.
Once again, canned food & non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Kroger table in the C Spire Wireless Fan Zone (from 3 - 6 p.m. Thursday) and also as fans enter the southwest and southeast gates of Davis Wade Stadium (from 4:15 - 6:30 p.m.).
