STARKVILLE, Miss. – As the 2013 fall campaign nears a close, the Mississippi State women’s tennis team continues to find success in the final days of the semester, playing in two different tournaments this weekend to close out action.

On the second day in the Jack Kramer Invite in Los Angeles, State’s Georgiana Patrasc, seeded third in the event and ranked 76th nationally, defeated Mimi Fotopoulos of TCU 6-3, 7-5 in the round of 16 Friday. Patrasc then went on to play seventh-seeded and 79th-ranked Kaitlin Ray of UCLA in the quarterfinals, where the Bulldog notched another impressive win, 7-5, 6-4. With the two victories, Patrasc advances into the semifinals on Saturday where she will take on 56th-ranked Gabby Desimone of Southern Cal.

In doubles, Patrasc teamed with Roseline Dion to notch an exciting 8-7(9) win in the round of 16 Friday against TCU’s pair of Simona Parajova and Stefanie Tan. State fended off seven match points to finally claim the victory. The Bulldog duo will moves into the quarterfinals of the event, where they will play Ferny Angeles Paz and Noelle Malley of Ohio State.

Other singles action of the Jack Kramer Invite included Dion’s win against Priscila Garcia of UCSB 6-3, 6-3 in her second consolation match of the event.
