MSU Women’s Tennis To Begin Play At Roberta Alison Fall Classic
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Beginning on Friday, the Mississippi State women’s tennis team will resume their fall slate, competing in the 2013 Roberta Alison Fall Classic, hosted by Alabama.
Mississippi State will be represented by the majority of its 2013-14 roster, including seniors Rosie Dion and Alexandra Perper, as well as juniors Petra Ferancova and Naomi Tran and all-SEC sophomore Georgiana Patrasc. True freshman Timea Guibe will also compete.
The Bulldogs are coming off a much-needed break following competition in the ITA Southern Regionals, where Perper advanced to the consolation finals and the nationally-ranked MSU doubles team of Perper and Tran reached the semifinals of the main draw.
“We had some highlights at the Southern Regionals last week,” head coach Daryl Greenan said. “I expect we will have some more highlights this weekend at the Roberta Alison Classic. The field will be very competitive, so we will have plenty of opportunities to pick up some big wins.”
Other schools competing at the 17-team tournament include host Alabama, Clemson, Georgia Tech, LSU, Michigan, Northwestern, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
Action will begin at 9 a.m. CT on both Friday and Saturday. There will be one round of doubles, followed by two rounds of singles on Friday. Saturday’s slate will feature the final round of singles and two rounds of doubles.
