Tuesday’s tilt features redshirt sophomore Preston Brown toeing the rubber against true freshman righty Zac Houston. Brown is coming off an impressive start this past Thursday where the righty allowed just one run on two hits with three strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings pitched.

The weekend opener Friday will put lefty C.T. Bradford up against right-hander Ben Bracewell in Bracewell’s first start of the fall. In four relief appearances, Bracewell has yet to allow a walk or an earned run in five innings of work, tallying five strikeouts in the process. Bradford is coming off his best start of the fall Oct. 24, where he surrendered just one run and struck out three in as many stanzas.

Woodruff, a fifth-round pick by the Texas Rangers out of high school, will make his fall debut Saturday against fellow right-hander Austin Sexton. After flashing a 96 mph fastball last week in a side session, the junior will have to contend against Sexton, who leads the Diamond Dawgs this fall with 9 1/3 innings of work. In his last start Oct. 25, Sexton gave up one run in four innings en route to a convincing 13-1 triumph.

Sunday’s weekend finale will showcase two righties who are tied for the fall team lead in strikeouts by a starting pitcher: junior Trevor Fitts and true freshman Dakota Hudson. In their first head-to-head duel Oct. 20, Hudson came out victorious against Fitts, tossing four scoreless frames with just one hit allowed. This past Saturday, however, Fitts won round two with five strikeouts and one run allowed in a narrow 5-4 win.
