Soccer Kicks For A Cure Sunday In Home Finale Vs. South Carolina
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State will “Kick For A Cure” and look to knock off No. 13 South Carolina Sunday afternoon as the Bulldogs wrap the home slate with a 1 p.m. kickoff at the MSU Soccer Field.
As part of State’s efforts to support breast cancer awareness, fans are encouraged to wear pink, and the first 150 fans will receive free pink Hail State wristbands.
Members of the Starkville Soccer Association will be Sunday’s special guests, and fans are encouraged to arrive early as the first 60 receive free Mississippi State ice cream.
The Bulldogs enter the contest 3-13 overall and 0-9 in SEC play following a tough 3-1 setback to Alabama in Friday’s Senior Night contest.
Sullivan and the Mississippi State offense will try to break through against a South Carolina defense that has surrendered just 10 goals en route to claiming a 13-2-2 overall record and 6-2-1 league mark.
Winship, Grimes and the rest of the Bulldog defense will attempt to stifle a Gamecock offense that knocked off Vanderbilt 4-1 behind a pair of goals from Raina Johnson.
Johnson’s multiple-goal contest put her in the team lead with seven on the year, two ahead of senior Danielle Au. Chelsea Drennan assisted three of USC’s goals, giving her 10 assists on the season.
