AUSTIN, Texas – After two days of dreary conditions, a much drier day helped the Mississippi State women’s golf team post its program-record 15th-consecutive regular season Top 10 finish at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational Tuesday afternoon.

With a 36-hole 575 entering the final round, MSU carded an 10-over-par 298 to finish with a share of sixth at 9-over-par 873.

“The girls pulled out another good tournament with a strong field,” MSU head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. “With a scoring average of around even par, we have come a long way in a short time. We look forward to building off this fall season and performing even better in the spring.”

Jessica Peng followed up her school-record 36-hole 137 with a 3-over-par 75 to post her second-consecutive top-10 tally. The freshman fired 10 birdies over the three days in the Lone Star state, two of which came during Tuesday’s final round

Ally McDonald fired the best score of the Bulldogs’ lineup in the final round with a 1-over-par 73 to place her at 3-over for the event. The Fulton, Miss., native showed great composure as she followed consecutive bogeys on her first two holes of the day with a string of pars and three birdies in her last five holes.

Junior Rica Tse tied her career-best tournament card with a 3-over-par 219 following a final-round 76. Her back-to-back birdies on holes 12 and 13 helped her tie McDonald at 31st overall. Ji Eun Baik notched a 2-over-par 74 with four birdies in the final round to end at 223 for the tournament.

Mary Langdon Gallagher rounded out the MSU lineup with a final score of 231 after a 78 for her final round. Blaise Carabello, who is competing as an individual, turned in a 234.

No. 1 UCLA claimed the tournament championship with a 26-under-par 838. Allison Lee of the Bruins won the individual crown with a 12-under-par 204.

Brown-Lemm’s squad will return to action to tee off the spring schedule in the Seminole Challenge on Feb. 14-16 in Tallahassee, Fla., at Southwood Golf Course.
