STARKVILLE, Miss. — Coming off consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, the Mississippi State softball team opens the home portion of its fall schedule on Sunday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Shorter University.

Sunday’s games will be free to fans, as will parking around the stadium.

MSU returns six starting position players and 13 letterwinners from last year's team, which posted a 33-24 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Mobile Regional. The Bulldogs also welcome six freshmen and one junior transfer to their squad.

Mississippi State wraps up its fall games next week with a 1 p.m. Saturday doubleheader against Wallace State Community College and a 3 p.m. doubleheader Sunday against Itawamba Community College.
