Columbus, Ohio. – Mississippi State’s senior duo of Chad Ramey and Joe Sakulpolphaisan each shot a 4-over 146 on Sunday to pace the Bulldogs to sixth after the first two rounds of the Jack Nicklaus Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
MSU shot a 24-over 592 Sunday, leaving the Bulldogs a stroke behind No. 24 Kent State for fifth place at the Scarlett Course going into Monday’s final 18 holes.
Ramey tied with Sakulpolphaisan for 16th after two rounds.
“I thought we started the day a little timid and uptight and because of that, we missed too many putts and didn't convert enough up and down opportunities,” Coach Clay Homan said. “We settled into our second round and played a bit better, but we have to get off to better starts. I was really pleased the way Joe finished up his second round making two consecutive birdies.
Sophomore Ben Wood enters Monday one stroke shy of the Top 25 after carding a 7-over 149.
Homan’s squad will tee off Monday’s final round at 8:15 a.m. alongside Purdue and Kent State.
