The Razorbacks swept Ole Miss (26-24, 30-28, 25-18) Friday night in Oxford and are third in the conference with 2.58 blocks per set after posting nine against the Rebels.
Head coach Jenny Hazelwood’s club frustrated No. 3 Florida (12-1, 1-0) Friday night but struggled with consistency as UF notched a pair of 10-2 runs to end the first and second sets. The Bulldogs even had the Gators on the ropes at 19-15 in the second set but could not seal the deal.
In her SEC debut, freshman Kimmy Gardiner posted 10 kills and six digs, while senior Dani McCree turned in nine kills and two blocks. Also appearing in her first SEC match, Suzanne Horner recorded 26 assists and Roxanne McVey contributed 22 digs. Freshman Chelsea Duhs had a hand in each of MSU’s four blocks on the night.
The Bulldogs have won four of the last six meetings with Arkansas in Starkville and look to notch this first SEC win of the 2013 campaign.
As part of the “Sundaes on Sunday” promotion, 60 free cups of MSU ice cream will be given away prior to the match.
The Bulldogs have next weekend off before hitting the road on Oct. 11 to face Texas A&M and Oct. 13 against LSU.
