Nashville, Tenn. –Thanks to a 4-under-par 138, Chad Ramey began his senior campaign with a fifth-place tie going into Saturday’s final round of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Collegiate Challenge Cup.

The stellar play from Ramey in the opening two rounds helped position Mississippi State into seventh place with 18 holes to go. MSU’s 11-over-par 579 is only eight strokes back of Virginia for sixth place.

In addition to Ramey’s phenomenal play from the Golf Club of Tennessee, the Bulldogs also had seniors Barrett Edens and Joe Sakulpolphaisan finish with ties for 16th and 19th respectively.

Edens, who is coming off of his best performance in his collegiate career, gained a Top-20 card for the first two rounds after opening with a 2-under-par 69.

Sakulpolphaisan is also fresh off of a career performance, after his 14-under-par 199 winning effort at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate. The Thailand native shot seven birdies in the first two rounds to earn a 2-over-par 144.

Rounding out the Bulldogs scorecard on Friday was junior TJ Morgan and senior Axel Boasson. Morgan, who is appearing in his second tourney for MSU, shot a 12-over-par 154 to tie for 42nd. Boasson carded a 14-over-par 156 to claim a tie for 45th going into Saturday’s round.

State will begin the third round at 8:00 a.m. alongside Duke.
