Seasons Wrapping Up For Professional Diamond Dawgs

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Eighteen Mississippi State baseball players are currently playing in professional baseball, with four in Major League Baseball and the remaining 14 on their road to the show via the minor leagues. More than half of Major League Baseball’s 30 organizations have a former Diamond Dawg playing or coaching for their organization. Below are their updated stats following games which ended Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.

NOTES

  • In his first professional season, Adam Frazier finished second in the Class A Short-Season New York-Penn League with a .399 on-base percentage and third with a .321 average.
  • Hunter Renfroe will spend Sept. 24 to Oct. 17 in the Dominican Republic.
  • In a critical Wild Card-deciding series at Tampa Bay which started Sept. 17, Mitch Moreland is 2-for-6 in the series with two runs and a walk.
  • In his final start of 2013, Nick Rout went four shutout innings, striking out five and walking none on Sept. 4.
  • Paul Maholm missed his last start due to a sore arm.
  • Jonathan Papelbon, who has recorded four saves and a win for Philadelphia in his last five outings, is proudly represents the Bulldogs with the Phillies.
