18 Diamond Dawgs Playing Professional Baseball (Updated Stats)

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Eighteen Mississippi State baseball players are currently playing in professional baseball, with four in Major League Baseball and the remaining 14 on their road to the show via the minor leagues. More than half of Major League Baseball’s 30 organizations have a former Diamond Dawg playing or coaching for their organization. Below are their updated stats following games which ended Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013.

  • Adam Frazier currently leads the Class A Short-Season New York-Penn League with a .420 on-base percentage.
  • Former Bulldog Jaron Shepherd in the Colorado Rockies organization was called up Aug. 19 to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League.
  • In his last 10 games in the Triple-A Pacific Coast League, Ed Easley is hitting .353 with six RBIs and five walks for the Reno Aces of the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.
  • Since being called up the MLB Washington Nationals on Aug. 17, Tyler Moore has tallied multiple hits five times in seven games and is hitting .462 (12-for-26) with four runs and three RBIs.
  • In his three game series vs. Seattle which ended Aug. 28, Mitch Moreland was 4-for-13 (.307) with four runs, three RBIs and a home run.
  • Kendall Graveman picked up his first professional win Aug. 28, giving up one run in 5.0 vs. Lake County, striking out three and walking none.
  • In his last six starts for the Augusta GreenJackets of the Class A South Atlantic League, Chris Stratton of the San Francisco Giants’ organization is 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA.
